Rainfall, though scant, brought relief to the parched Capital, as the maximum temperature came down by a couple of degrees on Sunday.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 42.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal and down from Saturday’s 44.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the weatherman, the temperature in the coming days will be relatively cooler and will be accompanied by cloudy skies. Rainfall is expected on Tuesday.
Strong winds that started blowing in the wee morning hours made Sunday morning comfortable, but the afternoon was stuffy and humid.
A dust storm followed by rainfall in parts of south Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon cooled the city down a little.
“The rainfall was due to the high humidity and a weak Western Disturbance. While we are not expecting heavy rainfall, Tuesday may see slight rain. The temperature, on the whole, will remain cooler than what was seen in the past week,” said the weatherman.
The city had been reeling under a heat wave for the past one week with the highest temperature touching 45.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Frequent power cuts also had Delhiites praying for cooler days.
“Sunday, though not very cool, was still better than the other days in the week. At least one could bear going out of the house. I hope the heat we saw last week does not return,” said Puneet Aggarwal, IT executive.
