The four-storey house, located at a busy street in Rishabh Nagar, Anand Vihar, belongs to Lajpat Rai Jain. The robbers held Jain’s wife and daughter hostage for nearly an hour.

At the time of the incident, Jain’s wife Veena, daughter Deepika and his four-year-old granddaughter were at home. “Three men rang the door bell around 2:50pm. A fair-looking man posing as a courier boy asked me to open the door.

When I opened the door, he caught me by the throat and pushed me inside. Two more men entered after him and started hitting us,” said Veena.

“They were carrying knives and country-made pistols. They threatened us and even cut my foot. They tied us up and locked us in a room. After that, the robbers opened all the water taps and increased the TV volume,” said Deepika.
The family claims that the robbers left the house around 4pm after which the family managed to inform the police.

“We were at our shop in Gandhi Nagar when this incident happened. My wife and daughter were tied up and locked in room for more than an hour while the robbers ransacked the house. I am still not able to figure out the loss,” said Lajpat Rai Jain.

“Next week my brother-in-law is getting married. So we had kept some valuables at home for the function. The robbers took away everything. Thankfully, they didn’t harm anyone,” said Ankit Jain, Lajpat Jain’s son.

It is not clear yet if the robbers had their own vehicle or not. So far the police couldn't find any clue at the site of the incident.Police said they have collected fingerprints from the spot and investigations are on.

“Three robbers entered Lajpat Rai Jain’s house in Rishabh Vihar with knives and country-made weapons at 2:50pm and fled with cash and jewellery. The family haven’t told us the value of robbed amount,” DCP (East) Prabhakar said.

Interestingly, the robbers seemed to have a sweet tooth. Before fleeing the house, they went through almost all the toffee boxes in the house and even took some with them.
