Two men, in a bid to flee after robbing a man, landed right into a police station after scaling a wall in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area on Friday, police said.
"The incident was reported around 5.30 pm in Punjabi Bagh area. Hiralal, a worker at an oil factory, had stepped out of his work station when the accused, Ravinder and Deepak, approached and forced him to hand over all the cash and valuable he had on him," said a senior police officer.
As the duo debated whether to gag or stab him, Hiralal fell on the ground, feigning unconsciousness. The snatchers decided to leave him and flee with his cash, estimated to be around Rs 5,500. "Just as they started running, Hiralal raised an alarm and the two found themselves facing a dead end with a boundary wall which they scaled. Sadly for them, it was the wall of the Punjabi Bagh police station and the SHO was in a weekly meeting with his staff," the officer said.
Although unusual, the officers promptly reacted and pounced on the duo as a breathless Hiralal caught up with them and narrated the incident to the police officers.
"We have arrested both of them and a case has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh Police Station," the officer added.
