After BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s directive to his party workers to go out to motivate all eligible voters in every Lok Sabha seat, particularly those who have turned 18 years of age, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat too wants them to get registered as voters so that they can exercise their franchise in 2014.
Addressing the annual gathering in Nagpur to mark Vijayadasami , Bhagwat called upon them to ensure their names figured properly in the voters lists and then exercise their franchise “carefully.”
Bhagwat, who was instrumental in the anointment of Modi as the BJP’s PM face, did not mention the BJP nor Modi. But, he told voters that their voting should be based purely on issues, to the parties who follow policies that serve the national interests and to the capable candidates who have integrity.
“...First and foremost, ensure that names figure in the voters’ list and than minutely evaluate the policies of contending political parties and also the character of the candidates while exercising the franchise,” Bhagwat said.
‘’100 per cent polling will make democracy healthier. We have to minutely evaluate the policies of contending political parties as also the character of the candidates while exercising our franchise.
We should never fall prey to any form of deceptive propaganda or stratagem; neither should we allow ourselves to be carried away by cheap emotions or narrow-minded considerations,’’ RSS chief said.
Without referring to the UPA government, Bhagwat said, “Wrong policies and corruption go together. It seems that even after two massive agitations and public resentment against corruption and exposure of rampant corruption at highest echelons of power, the real culprits involved in such acts are roaming free.”
