Sealing drive continues in the capital

Around 120 commercial establishments, including 30 in the elite Lutyen's Delhi, operating out of residential premises in the capital were sealed by civic authorities on Wednesday.
The sealing squad of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) took action against 30 businesses -- 24 in Sagar Apartments in Tilak Marg and six on Hanuman Road, an NDMC official said.
On Tuesday, the NDMC had taken action against 112 shops which violated building bylaws by operating from the basement of Indraprakash Building on Barakambha road. NDMC has sealed 142 shops in last two days.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) also continued with its sealing drive against violators on non-notified roads, taking action against 89 commercial units across the capital.
The major action was seen on two roads in Central Zone where 52 shops were sealed. While 12 shops were sealed in Shahdara-North, 10 shops each were sealed in Rohini and South Zones, an MCD official said.
In Shahdara-South and West Zones, two units each were sealed while in Najafgarh, one shop was sealed.
With Wednesday's action, the MCD has taken action against 2,680 shops.
