The Delhi Police are planning to make separate routes for each head of the five countries that will assemble in the Capital for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit on March 28.
Since this will be the first international summit after the February 13 attack on Israel’s embassy car, Delhi Police are making every security arrangement possible to avert any untoward incident.
Sources in Delhi Police said that top officers have decided to make some changes in the security plan that had been prepared before the attack.
“We were informed about the summit three months ago, but the situation has changed after the attack. Top officers now want separate security plans for every state head,” the source said.
Heads of state are expected to arrive in India a day before the summit. “Prior to the visit, a security team of each of the countries will inspect the route, which they will take. The security plan will be shared with them,” the officer further said.
A dummy run will be conducted on all routes to test the security arrangements.
Police are planning to provide accommodation to representatives of each country at different hotels.
“We have selected six hotels for the representatives to stay in. We will try to keep all representatives of a particular country at one hotel, as this will help us prepare the route plan accordingly. Also, we want all of them to stay in New Delhi areas, so they don’t have to travel a lot,” he added.
