Although the snag occurred during non-peak hours, scores of passengers were delayed after a train going towards Dwarka developed a problem. The commuters in the train had to be off-loaded, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials said.

Commuters travelling on the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line faced delayed services on Tuesday around 3pm due to a technical snag which lasted for around 30 minutes, officials said.

“Train services on Line-3 up line (going towards Dwarka) were affected from 2:55pm to 3:20pm due to sudden applicability of emergency brakes in a train between Karol Bagh and Rajendra Place stations,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a statement, adding that the train was later removed from service for further investigation.

Commuters said they were asked to board the next train which came arrived after 15 minutes. “We were deboarded at Rajendra Place station, but the next train took 15 minutes to reach the platform,” said Kanhaiya Das, who was going to Dwarka.

“Trains on the Blue line were running at a snail’s pace. I got down at Laxmi Nagar and took an auto to Connaught Place where I had to go,” said Yamini Singh who works at a store at CP.

“This resulted in bunching of trains on the Up-Line. Services were normalised by about 3:25 pm,” a DMRC official said.
