The party has 203 Lok Sabha members and 72 members in Rajya Sabha and they have also been asked to divert Rs 10 lakh each from their MP local area development funds for the relief operations, party's Communications department chief Ajay Maken said.

Earlier, Gandhi had asked her party MPs not to take a month's salary and donate it in PM's relief fund when the government announced austerity measures amid financial slowdown in 2008-09. The Utttar Pradesh unit of the BJP has already asked its MLAs to donate salary for the victims.

Lok Sabha secretariat too, may contribute one day's pay of all officials to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

While the Congress-run state government of Uttarakhand is grappling to tackle the crisis, the Congress has decided to garner additional help from its other state units.

"All Pradesh Congress unit chiefs are being asked to send all the relief materials from their states to Uttarakhand immediately," Maken added. Some leaders have also been sent to Dehradun to monitor the relief work.
