Congress President Sonia Gandhi has lashed out at BJP for its attacks on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, alleging that the saffron party "violates all norms of decency and propriety" and claimed that the people of the country will give a "befitting reply to politics of abuse, hate and discord".
"I am sure the people of the country will give a befitting reply to this politics of abuse, hate and discord," Gandhi said.
"The BJP particularly is intent on running its campaign in an inflammatory and divisive communal plank and we must counter this forcefully," she said in her "Letter to Congress persons" in the latest edition of the party's mouthpiece "Congress Sandesh".
Taking on BJP and Third Front, Gandhi alleged that they have no issues on which they could fight and they have adopted a "negative and destructive approach".
"We are focusing on a positive agenda. This is in stark contrast to the approach of both BJP and Third Front which, having no issues on which to fight, have adopted a negative and destructive approach," she said.
Gandhi hailed Manmohan Singh as having a "unique experience, expertise and unparalleled integrity and hoped the party will do better in coming Lok Sabha election than last time".
