Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and his two deputies Raghuvar Das and Sudesh Mahato on Monday called on senior BJP leaders in New Delhi.
In their first visit to the national capital after assuming charge, the three leaders from Jharkhand called on BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee to seek his blessings.
Later, Soren, Das and Mahato also met BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman L K Advani and former party president Rajnath Singh. Sources said some differences over portfolio allotment came up for discussion in these meetings.
The meeting with Rajnath Singh lasted about an hour in which issues relating to the development of Jharkhand and ways of fulfilling the commitments made to the people during the recent assembly elections were discussed.
Rajnath Singh, who had worked closely with BJP's Jharkhand unit during ticket distribution and campaigned extensively during the polls, said, "I told the three leaders that they should work diligently to fulfill the promises made to the people of Jharkhand and give a stable government there."
BJP top brass had taken the lead in forming a government in Jharkhand after the state elections sprung a hung assembly. Under the arrangement reached with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha president Shibu Soren and All Jharkhand Students Union led by Sudesh Mahato, BJP and AJSU were given Deputy Chief Ministerships while Soren became Chief Minister.
