BJP’s East Delhi candidate Chetan Chauhan wants to give East Delhi more playgrounds. “Kids and youngsters tell me that they don’t have a place to pursue outdoor sports. I think East Delhi needs at least three football grounds, two cricket grounds, an Astroturf for hockey, and volleyball and basketball courts,” Chauhan said. He also said he would like to see the Sanjay Jheel area being used for sports.
BSP set for social engineering in Delhi
The BSP has big plans for Delhi, including a rally by party chief Mayawati. It feels social engineering would be tested during the elections in the Capital. The party had garnered the support of nearly 5.5 per cent of voters in the 2007 MCD polls and then steadily increased its vote share to nearly 14.5 per cent in last year’s assembly elections. “South Delhi, Northeast and Northwest constituencies are crucial when we see our vote share in these areas in the assembly polls,” Brahma Singh Bidhuri said.
Goel woos elders with parents’ welfare act
BJP candidate from New Delhi constituency Vijay Goel said the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Citizens Act should be immediately implemented. “The act was formulated a year ago but the Delhi government has not implemented it so far,” he said speaking to senior citizens in Sarojini Nagar on Sunday. Goel said the Act would safeguard senior citizens who were neglected by their children.
