Leave home as early as possible if you have to catch a train from Old Delhi railway station on Monday morning.
On way to the railway station, you will have to take a longer route and you may also face traffic congestions and diversions due to elaborate traffic arrangements around Red Fort between 5am and 9am for the Independence Day celebration.
However, those going to the New Delhi railway station are not likely to face any major trouble as there would be no restrictions on movement towards the railway station, neither would there be any diversions.
Residents of New Delhi area and south Delhi would have to reach Kashmere Gate ISBT via Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, Rani Jhanshi Road and Boulevard Road. On security ground, restrictions will be imposed on movement of buses and cars to smoothly facilitate VIP movement to Red Fort.
"Local city buses including DTC will not move on Ring Road from 5am to 9am between Hanuman Setu and Bhairon Road 'T' point and would take alternative route available," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
He advised that those vehicles which do not have parking labels for Independence Day should avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin bridge and ISBT bridge.
The police will be installing adequate informative signages for people’s convenience.
