Chinese premier Li Keqiang is set to travel to financial capital Mumbai after he completes his political engagement in New Delhi during the visit late next month.
A visit to Mumbai, where the premier is set to interact with Indian industry leaders, could send the signal that trade ties continue with the same momentum despite disagreement in the areas such as border. Now pegged at $80bn, India-China bilateral trade stays on course to meet the $100bn target by 2015.
Even as the border face-off continues, the preparations have begun for Keqiang’s visit to India later next month.
But the incursion inside Indian territory in Ladakh is casting its shadow over his visit.
An advance team of Chinese officials is in Delhi to see the logistics arrangements for the visit in the third week of May.
