For them, raping a woman was payback for the damage done to their car. The four men, including a 14-year-old juvenile, were allegedly drinking beer when they spotted their 18-year-old victim and allegedly passed obscene comments at her on Saturday night.
They abducted and raped her when she objected and damaged their car's windshield in protest. The girl was abducted from a playground in Sultanpuri and was recovered by the police in Mongolpuri industrial area.
The accused first drove her around in their black Hyundai Accent and then two of them raped her. The police have accused Rama (28) and Chander Pal (23) for allegedly raping the girl and two others Manish (25) and a 14-year-old boy for abducting her. This is how the crime took place.
Like every other day, the victim left her home around 9.30pm to get her mother who works at a nearby factory. "On Saturday night, she went with her neighbour Ravi," said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (Outer).
On the way, the main accused Rama, a cab driver, and his friends stopped the girl and passed obscene comments. "The comments made the victim angry and she got into an argument with them. Ravi just stood as mute spectator while the victim fought," she added.
Things got out of hand when the girl threw the keys Ravi was carrying, at the accused's car, damaging it. The men asked her to compensate for the damage and then dragged her into the car and drove away.
Pay for it or get raped:
Inside the car, the four accused started assaulting the victim. They allegedly slapped her several times and asked her to pay for the damage. While Manish and the juvenile got out of the car, the other two kept fighting with her.
"They asked her to call some relative or anyone who could pay for the broken window. The hapless girl said she would if they let her go but the accused did not listen to her and raped her instead," added Sharma.
Lie to her mother:
While the accused were allegedly raping the victim, her mother called. "The first time she picked up the phone, they made her lie to her mother that she was fine and would come in sometime," added Sharma.
