Says the 20-year-old Delhi based Tennis Player, Yuki Bhambri. As a true Delhi wallah at heart, he loves the development that the city has seen over the years. HT City caught up with him over a little chit chat about what he likes and dislikes about the Capital.
Being a tennis player how do you feel is the city’s response towards your sport?
Delhi players have the advantage of the National Association being in their home town. Even the game is now gaining popularity and now almost every neighbourhood in the Capital has a tennis court. You see kids picking up tennis racquets and playing. So, the response is very good!
How do you find Delhi different from other cities?
I was born and brought up here and have seen a lot of changes over the years. The city has gone through a lot of development. Yes, it is congested and crowded but then its the Capital and thats bound to happen and so are some of other major cities in India. But we have the Metro and it is one of the biggest and most important developments.
What do you do when you are not playing tennis?
I read a lot. I am a big Harry Potter fan just like every other teenager who has lived during the the Harry Potter era. I also like Dan Brown.
Where do you hang out with your friends in Delhi?
I don’t really hang out much, but whenever I do, I usually end up at Select Citywalk in Saket. I watch movies there, shop and eat.
What do you think about Delhi girls?
Well, they are all beautiful (laughs)! And so are the girls from other cities. So I don’t see much of a difference. Take the example of Bollywood actresses - they are from all over the country and all are so beautiful. So are the girls from Delhi and other cities.
