Bodies of three people, including a woman was found beside a railway track in South Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar area early on Friday morning. Another person was also found to be injured and unconscious near the tracks.

According to the police, it appears that while two men and the women may have tried to deboard the train while it was still in motion, the other man have been sitting near the track and was crushed by the moving train.

While two of the deceased were identified as Ramesh Kumar Singh and Meena Kumari, the identity of the third person is yet to be ascertained. The injured was identified as one Suraj Bhan.

“A passerby informed us about the bodies. Our team reached the spot and found Suraj lying unconscious near the track. Suraj, who sustained severe head injuries, was admitted to a hospital while the bodies were sent to the mortuary. He later told us that he is related to Meena and Ramesh -- two of the dead people -- and has no clue about the third person whose body was also found near the tracks,” a police officer said.

During investigation it was revealed that Suraj and Meena were employed as helps by Ramesh who worked as a cook at a Delhi Police canteen in South Delhi. On Thursday night, the trio had a few drinks and left for their home in Tilak Nagar. Ramesh reportedly had to de board at RK Puram but Suraj could not recall how all of them landed up on the tracks “He could just recall that they had to get down at Tilak Nagar while Rajesh was to de board at RK Puram. He faintly remembers to be standing next to the train compartment door. He does not know how they fell outside and ended up on the tracks,” police said.

The police have registered a case in the matter and have started the investigation. The bodies have been sent for a postmortem examination which would help the police ascertain if they had consumed alcohol. The other body was found a few meters away and it appears that the man was crushed while he was trying to cross the railroad. The police has initiated inquest proceedings and the investigation is on.
