New York

In the wake of 9/11, which claimed 2,977 lives, the New York Police Department (NYPD) worked in tandem with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to ensure that there were radiation detection boats in the waters, cameras that have been placed all over lower and midtown Manhattan and officer armed with guns and ready to be backed up by tanks and armoured vehicles.

Six years after four suicide bombers killed 52 civilians and wounded over 700 on the London Underground, police officials, as per media reports, reportedly started coordinating with one another and practiced standard operating procedures in times of similar contingencies.

A command and control system was put in place, and there is now only little confusion about the roles and responsibilities of different agencies, including both the local police and the MI6.

Russia has been prone to attacks by Chechen rebels since years. In January this year, a suicide bomber left more than 30 dead and injured 110 at the Domodedovo Airport in Moscow.

So, the sleuths put in strategy to ensure transit security was put in place at the airport in just 20 minutes.

Several layers of security were put in place with intelligence agencies working in tandem with each other and conducting raids in subways together.
