A tiff between two lovers triggered a brawl in a south Delhi pub late on Monday.

The incident occurred when a foreigner slapped her boyfriend after an argument over some issue. A group of four boys intervened to which another took exception and joined the argument. Interestingly, during the melee the couple left the club but till then the two groups had turned violent.

When the club's bouncers tried to intervene, the boys attacked them too.

"The girl slapped her boyfriend and a group of four boys intervened. Meanwhile another group entered into the scuffle and the couple left the pub. When the bouncers intervened, the group beat them too," a senior police officer said.

The incident took place at a pub located on the Sri Aurobindo Marg at around 1 am.

Police said when they reached the spot after someone made a PCR call, it came out to be a case of a clash between the patrons and the bouncers of the club. But soon the whole story was unravelled and the clashing groups realized that the couple, over which they had picked up a fight, has already left.

Eight persons, including a bouncer, were detained under Delhi Police Act and were later released. Police said the detained men had come for the birthday party of a Munirka-based businessman and were drunk.
