The family of Trilok Singh Tokas, killed by unidentified assailants on Thursday night in the Baba Ganganath sports complex in posh Vasant Vihar, is living in the shadow of fear. They feel their lives too are in danger.
Tokas is survived by a son and a daughter and was probably killed over a dispute on the contract for running the gym at the complex and the swimming pool.
Apart from this, the family had seven deals to run swimming pools in different parts of the city. “He was in the contract business and his son was helping him. There might be a few people who didn’t like the fact that he got seven more contracts. If this is the reason behind killing Trilok, they might attack others in the family also,” said a family member requesting anonymity.
“My mother died some years ago and it was my father who was taking care of us. Now that he has been killed, we are fearing for our lives,” said a visibly shaken Natasha (name changed), Tokas’s daughter.
Family sources said Tokas's contract to run the gym and the swimming pool had expired recently. The contract was supposed to pass on to his son.
Police have taken statements from his family members. “He was a soft-spoken person and never had any fight with anyone. However, the guards told us he picked up fights with people present in the park. He used to stay late in the complex to check the activities of miscreants,” said Brijender Tokas, Trilok’s brother.
“We want the killers to be behind bars. We don’t even want to come out of our house as long as the killers are at large,” Natasha said.
