Two fresh cases of swine flu (H1N1) were reported in Delhi on Friday, taking the total number of cases to three in the New Year.
A Directorate of Health Services (DHS) official said the two fresh cases were of a 35-year-old woman from south Delhi’s CR Park and another 53-year-old woman from Chattarpur.
“The patient from CR Park was admitted to a private hospital in Kalkaji, while the woman from Chattarpur was admitted to Fortis hospital in Vasant Kunj. Their samples have been tested positive for swine flu at an authorized laboratory,” said Dr Charan Singh, additional secretary, DHS.
With the two new cases, the number of swine flu cases in Delhi has gone up to 41 since last year. A 51-year-old woman died on December 24 due to swine flu at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The Delhi health department had a review meeting at the Delhi secretariat on Friday. They looked into issues like stock position in all the hospitals, preparedness of the hospitals in handling swine flu cases, and training of health workers in government and private hospitals to tackle H1N1 cases.
“We reviewed the preparedness of the hospitals to check if they had proper stock of medicines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, laboratory equipment, lab technicians, and health workers,” said Dr RN Das, nodal officer, DHS.
