Two students commit suicide in outer Delhi

Scolded by her parents for her poor performance in studies, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide by allegedly hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in outer Delhi's Begam Vihar Extension on Tuesday.
The girl was upset after being reprimanded by her parents. She was a student of Class 11 at a government school and her father is a tailor.
A senior police officer said the matter came to light after the girl's parents saw her hanging and made a PCR call. A police team reached the spot and rushed the girl to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where the doctors pronounced her brought dead.
"The exact reason behind the extreme step could not be ascertained since the girl did not leave a suicide note," the officer said.
In a similar incident, a 19-year-old BA first year student committed suicide allegedly by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Aman Vihar area in outer Delhi. The incident was reported around 10.30 am through a PCR call made from Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, police said.
The deceased had locked herself inside a room and was not responding to the repeated knocks by her parents.
"They broke open the door and found her hanging. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. No suicide note was recovered from the spot which could tell the reason behind her extreme step," said the officer.
