Accusing the UPA government of adopting "double standards" on corruption issue, Delhi BJP on Monday threatened to continue disrupting Parliament till chief minister Sheila Dikshit resigns following the CAG report on Commonwealth Games projects.
Demanding Dikshit's resignation, Delhi party in-charge Navjyot Singh Sidhu alleged that the "silence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh" on the resignation issue and the effort of Congress to save Dikshit has "blackened the face" of Congress and the government.
"The CAG has made it clear that Congress government is very corrupt. Until she resigns, BJP will not allow Parliament to function," Sidhu told reporters here.
"If Kalmadi and Raja were indicted on the basis of Shunglu Committee and CAG reports, why is the government defending Dikshit?" Sidhu asked.
Echoing Sidhu, Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said the CAG report "clearly" showed that Delhi government was corrupt and involved in mishandling and mismanagement of funds.
"However, the Congress is shamelessly denying that Dikshit was involved in the scam," he said.
Sidhu also asked the Prime Minister to direct the CBI to initiate criminal proceedings and ask the guilty to resign.
Citing former B S Yeddyurappa's resignation on the basis of Lokayukta report, Sidhu said it was not mandatory to accept the report. "We could have rejected it, but we asked Yeddyurappa to resign till his innocence is proved," he said.
Calling Prime Minister Manmohan Singh an "honest king of a corrupt regime", Sidhu alleged that his silence could be suggestive of the government encouraging corruption in the country.
"Kalmadi was held responsible for mismanagement of Rs 1,200 crore. But a major amount of Rs 64,000 crore have been distributed between Dikshit and her group of ministers. Why is the PM running away from his responsibilities?" he said.
Protesting against corruption, BJP will hold a youth rally tomorrow and on Thursday.
