Civil engineer takes to drawing cartoons to support Hazare

Rather than shouting slogans at the Ramlila Maidan, Kamal Rajvansh, 27, is using a creative way to express his angst.

Rajvansh, a civil engineer with a Delhi-based firm, has displayed over 250 cartoons on the theme of corruption at the venue.

A curious crowd was ready to even buy his cartoons. “People were asking me if they could buy the cartoons on display,” said Rajvansh, a resident of south Delhi’s Green Park.

Rajvansh has even been receiving requests from supporters to make cartoons for them on the spot. “Though I refused to sell, I made a few for free for some protesters,” he added.

Rajvansh took a month off from work to make the cartoons. “I needed time to make these cartoons, so I took a month off,” he said.

While some cartoons poke fun at politicians, there are others that question the state machinery, added Rajvansh.

Asked what his views were on the Jan Lokpal Bill, Rajvansh said it would weed out corruption from society.

“The protest is for a good cause, which is why I decided to be here and lend support to the movement in my own little way. I hope through these cartoons I will be able to make the public more aware,” he added.
