Cops ready to tackle DU rush hour

Students rush in. The DU campus, that is, keep aside love, come admission time from June 1. And Delhi police say they are ready to handle the deluge. Four companies are ready to be deployed, including two coming from police headquarters.
During the admission process, which lasts for 15 days, DU colleges attract thousands of students, parents, local guardians and friends.
The presence of such a huge rush of people at one time poses a security threat.
“From past experience, we know that during this time there's a sudden rise in cases of eve-teasing, picking pockets and snatching, for which sufficient police protection will be provided," said DCP North District Dr Sagar Preet.
“The campus will be divided in eight sectors and police inspectors will be stationed at all of those sectors for people to reach in case of any emergency.”
According to police, personnel will be deployed at Chatra Marg, Vishwavidyalaya marg, Kranti Chowk, near St. Stephen's College among other strategic locations.
Four Police Control Room vans and motorbikes will be patrolling the entire campus to keep a check on any criminal activity during these 15 days.
Women police personnel will be making rounds of the campus in plainclothes to identify eve-teasers and will also be inside certain busy and most-frequented bus routes to keep a vigilant eye.
“All our men will be alert and available for any complaint.The initial three days are supposed to attract the maximum crowd and we suggest people, who want to avoid rush, come after that,” said the DCP.
“CCTVs will also be installed at an experimenatl basis through the campus, he said.
