Whenever a window of opputunity for a peace talk opens up, by coincidence or by intention Indo-Pak attacks take place, disrupting the peace process. Here is a timeline summary of Indo-Pak attacks that took place in the past 14 years.

1999: Atal Bihari Bajpayee and Nawaz Sharif attend Lahore Summit in February; Pak Army wages Kargil war few months later (in May).

2000: Chittisinghpura massacre takes place in Anantnag district of Kashmir. 36 Sikhs were gunned down outside two gurdwaras by Pakistan-based terrorist group Let (allegedly). The incident happened during the visit of US President Bill Clinton.

2007: Samjhauta Express blasts just before Pakistan’s FM Khurshid Kasuri’s visit to India for peace talks.

2008: India calls-off peace talks with Pakistan after Mumbai 2008 terrorist attacks.

2013: Blasts outside Indian Consulate in Jalabad, (a city in Eastern Afghanistan). Terrorists backed by Pakistani spy agency ISI targeted India’s installations in Afghanistan. The attack comes close on the heels of overtures to India from Pakistan’s new government.
