CBSE results: Lucknow boy Anirudh Deb tops in Allahabad region

Lucknow boy Anirudh Deb of Delhi Public School, Eldeco Branch has topped in CBSE Class 12 examinations in Allahabad region. He securedi 98.4% marks. Deb scored 492 marks out of 500.

Tech savvy Anirudh has scored 100 in Mathematics, 99 Computer, Chemistry and Physics and 95 in English. “It came as a big surprise because some of the question papers were bit difficult. I was expecting something around 90% and above but never thought that I would top in the region,” said Deb.

Deb's father is a clerk in Mandi Parishad and mother is a Nurse in SGPGIMS, Lucknow.

While Kanpur girl Harshita Roy of DPS, Bithoor Road stood second in the region by securing 491 marks (98.2%). With 490 marks, Aditya Kumar Pandey of Basti stood third position in the region, informed Piyush Sharma, regional officer of Allahabad region, CBSE board.

Lucknow girl Simran Chandra of DPS Eldeco shares her fourth rank in the region with 3 other students of UP including another Lucknow boy Vishal Singh of Central Academy, Vikas Nagar. They have scored 489 marks.

Chandra focused on concept building and self-study. “I want to become psychiatrist,” she told HT. She scored 100 in Chemistry, 98 in Physics and Biology, 97 in Computer Science and 96 in English.

Simran also holds Limca Book of Records for writing first ever mother daughter poetry book in 2014. She penned poetry book with her mother Neelam Saxena Chandra who is an engineer in Indian railways.

In all 10,938 students of 87 schools had appeared from Lucknow. The students of state capital registered a pass percentage of 84.86% that is better than all India pass percentage of 82%.

Girls have again outperformed boys in the region with pass percentage of 89.33% against all India girls pass percentage of 87.5% girls while boys registered a pass percentage of 81.68% again higher than boys of all India whose pass percentage is 77.7%.

In Allahabad region, 97,362 students of 661 schools took the exam in 190 centres. Of these 60,790 were boys and 30,572 were girls. Allhabad region registered overall pass percentage of 75.16%. Here too girls have outshined boys by registering pass percentage of 82.14% against boys 71.36%.
