Admissions for the last season may have ended just three months back, but it's nursery time again.
A number of schools in Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad have started to come out with admission notices. Most schools start nursery admissions this week or the coming week.
Nursery admissions in NCR are not something that only parents in these towns await. A large number of parents in Delhi too eagerly wait for them as they think it will be easier to get their child admitted in a school in NCR rather than in Delhi.
"I live in Mayur Vihar Phase III and want to send my child to DPS Noida or Step By Step. It is almost impossible to get admission in a good Delhi School. A lot of people my locality are applying to schools in Noida," said Shalini Mehra, who works with an IT firm in Noida.
For many parents, applying in an NCR town makes more sense as the school of their choice suits their needs better. The main criteria that parents look at are school reputation, distance and affordability.
For someone who lives on the Delhi-Gurgaon border, choosing a school in Gurgaon will make as much sense as choosing one in Delhi.
"I sent my older son to Shikshantar in Gurgaon and will also send my daughter to a school in Gurgaon. It is closer from my house and most reputed schools in Gurgaon have a very good bus service," said Anuj Khatri, a businessman who lives in Ayanagar.
The newer schools coming up in NCR are also a big draw.
"There are a number of schools in Gurgaon and Noida now that focus on overall development rather than just academics. They have a huge area and world-class facilities. There are very few such schools in Delhi and getting admission into those is next to impossible so I will be looking at a school in NCR," said Kamla Rawat, a housewife who lives in Saket.
The lack of proper admission guidelines and set procedure like the one that exists in Delhi, however, has many parents worried. While one school may ask kids to sit for interviews, the other may simply admit through a lottery system.
