IAS exam 2015: Bihar throws up good performance
Civil services aspirants from Bihar secured commendable ranks in the Civil Services Examination, 2015, the final list of which was declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday.

Aspirants from Patna, Darbhanga and other districts of the state figured in the list of 1,078 candidates recommended for appointment in Indian Administrative Services, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central ServicesGroup A and B.
Ravi Prakash from Patna secured an all India rank (AIR) of 54 to become one of the top performers from the state in the examination. Son of SBI, Hajipur manager Mrinal Sharma, the IITKanpur grad cleared the examination in his third attempt.

Another Patnaite Aneesh Dasgutpta secured an AIR of 74 to be included among the top UPSC performers from the state. Bihar lad Vivek Kumar secured AIR 80 to secure a position in the coveted list.
It took Saurabh of Darbhanga, who works in Steel Authority of India, his fourth attempt for the achievement of securing an AIR of 142. Nishant Kumar of Patliputra secured AIR of 856. Several others also figure in the list.
“The performance of Bihar students in UPSC has been noteworthy this year. Several from our coaching institutes also achieved good ranks in the final list declared by the UPSC,” said Dr Krishna Singh, Patna centre head of Chanakya IAS Academy, a coaching institute for civil services aspirants. He claimed around 300 aspirants, who underwent training from different branches of the institute across India, secured ranks in the list.

Other aspirants from Bihar who secured ranks in UPSC this year included Rishav Kumar Jha, who secured 162 rank, Govind Kumar with AIR 236, Kartik Kumar Singh AIR of 441, Chandan Prakash Pandey AIR 462 and Ankit AIR 492.
