It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Gohil Rajeshkumar Harjibhai winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Dabhi Kalubhai Rupabhai by a margin of just 5,920 votes.

Indian National Congress's Gohil Rajeshkumar Harjibhai got a total of 67,477 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Dabhi Kalubhai Rupabhai secured 61,557 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s candidate Gorahva Vinodbhai Shivabhai secured 1,953 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.3%, 44.1% and 1.4% respectively.
