Indian National Congress's J V Kakadiya won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Dilip Sanghani by a margin of 15,336 votes.
The top two candidates split 95.1% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's J V Kakadiya got a total of 66,644 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Dilip Sanghani secured 51,308 votes. Independent candidate Khatariya Hamirbhai Lakhabhai secured 1,942 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.7%, 41.4% and 1.6% respectively.
