Highlights: Gujarat assembly election in 2 phases on Dec 1 & 5; results on Dec 8

Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 schedule Highlights: The first phase of the election will be on December 1 and the second on December 5. The votes will be counted on December 8.

The Election Commission announced on Thursday that the Gujarat assembly election will be held in two phases on December 1 and December 5. The couting of votes and declaration of results will be on December 8. 

The term of the 182-member Gujarat assembly ends on February 18 next year. 

Addressing a press conference, chief election commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said “First phase of Assembly elections in Gujarat to be held on 1st December & second phase on 5th December; counting of votes to be done on 8th December.”

"The date of counting for Gujarat Assembly polls will coincide with Himachal Pradesh on the 8th of December. The entire process of Assembly elections to be completed on the 10th of December," Kumar added. 

A total of 51,782 polling stations will be set up across Gujarat. Of these, 1,274 will be managed by women polling and security personnel.
