In the 2017 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Naroda constituency. Naroda was one of 99 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Thawani Balram Khubchand comfortably winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Tiwari Omprakash Darogaprasad by a huge margin of 60,142 votes.
96.3% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Thawani Balram Khubchand got a total of 1,08,168 votes, while Indian National Congress's Tiwari Omprakash Darogaprasad got 48,026 votes. All India Hindustan Congress Party's candidate Amitbhai Mohanbhai Patel grabbed 1,976 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 66.7%, 29.6% and 1.2% respectively.
