It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Kanubhai Karamshibhai Patel winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Dabhi Pushpaben Jorubhai by a margin of just 7,721 votes.
The top three candidates split 91.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Kanubhai Karamshibhai Patel secured a total of 67,692 votes, while Indian National Congress's Dabhi Pushpaben Jorubhai got 59,971 votes. Independent candidate Rathod Kamabhai Gagjibhai bagged 37,795 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 37.6%, 33.3% and 21.0% respectively.
