Bharatiya Janta Party's Balbir Singh Verma won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Dr.Subhash Chand Manglate by a margin of 4,587 votes.

The top two candidates split 98.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Balbir Singh Verma got a total of 29,537 votes, while Indian National Congress's Dr.Subhash Chand Manglate secured 24,950 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Hari Chand secured 498 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.4%, 45.1% and 0.9% respectively.
