The top three candidates split 91.3% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Lakhvinder Singh Rana secured a total of 25,872 votes, while Bharatiya Janta Party's K. L. Thakur got 24,630 votes. Independent candidate Hardeep Singh Bawa bagged 13,095 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 37.1%, 35.4% and 18.8% respectively.
In Himachal Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janta Party's Krishan Lal Thakur beat Indian National Congress's Lakhvinder Singh Rana by 9,308 votes.
