Punjab Election: Bathinda Urban Assembly Constituency 2022

Bathinda Urban comes under the Bathinda district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Bathinda Urban voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Bathinda Urban assembly seat had 2,05,586 registered voters. Of the, 1,08,437 were male and 97,149 were female voters. 0.6% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly Election, there were 13 candidates in the fray from Bathinda Urban constituency. Bathinda Urban was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Manpreet Singh Badal won the election upstaging Aam Aadmi Party's Deepak Bansal by a margin of 18,480 votes.

The top three candidates split 97.6% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Manpreet Singh Badal got a total of 63,942 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party's Deepak Bansal secured 45,462 votes. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate Sarup Chand Singla grabbed the third spot with 37,177 votes. The top three parties got 42.6%, 30.3% and 24.8% respectively.

In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Sarup Chand Singla outperformed Indian National Congress's Harminder Singh Jassi by 6,645 votes.
