Guru Har Sahai comes under the Firozpur district and it is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Guru Har Sahai voted for Punjab Assembly Election 2022 on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Guru Har Sahai assembly seat had 1,57,681 registered voters. Of the, 81,998 were male and 75,683 were female voters. 0.5% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Guru Har Sahai constituency had 15 candidates for assembly seat contention. Guru Har Sahai was one of 77 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Gurmeet Singh Sodhi winning the election upstaging Shiromani Akali Dal's Vardev Singh by a margin of just 6,041 votes.
98.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Gurmeet Singh Sodhi grabbed a total of 63,032 votes, while Shiromani Akali Dal's Vardev Singh got 56,991 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Malkit Chand bagged 14,282 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 46.2%, 41.7% and 10.5% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Gurmeet Singh Sodhi defeated Shiromani Akali Dal's Vardev Singh by 3,249 votes.
