Phillaur is the assembly constituency which comes under the Jalandhar district. It is one of the 117 Punjab Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Punjab Assembly Election 2022 for Phillaur was held on February 20 and the result was declared on March 10.
Phillaur assembly constituency had 1,93,957 electors in 2017, out of which 1,01,045 were male voters and 92,912 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.
In the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Phillaur constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Phillaur was one of 15 seats won by the Shiromani Akali Dal. It was a close contest with Shiromani Akali Dal's Baldev Singh Khaira winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary by a margin of just 3,477 votes.
78.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Shiromani Akali Dal's Baldev Singh Khaira grabbed a total of 41,336 votes, while Indian National Congress's Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary got 37,859 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Saroop Singh Kadiana bagged 35,779 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 28.3%, 25.9% and 24.5% respectively.
In Punjab Assembly election 2012, Shiromani Akali Dal's Avinash Chander beat Indian National Congress's Santokh Singh Chaudhary by 31 votes.
