Jaunpur assembly constituency had 3,90,576 electors in 2017, out of which 2,09,049 were male voters and 1,81,527 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.5% votes.

Bharatiya Janata Party's Girish Chandra Yadav won the election by upstaging Indian National Congress's Nadeem Javed by a margin of 12,284 votes.
The top three candidates split 94.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Girish Chandra Yadav got a total of 90,324 votes, while Indian National Congress's Nadeem Javed secured 78,040 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Dinesh Tandan grabbed the third spot with 41,877 votes. The top three parties got 40.4%, 34.9% and 18.7% respectively.
