In the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Dhanolti constituency had 8 candidates for assembly seat contention. Dhanolti was one of 2 seats won by the independent candidates. It was a close contest with independent candidate Pritam Singh Panwar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Narayan Singh Rana by a margin of just 1,615 votes.

94.5% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Independent candidate Pritam Singh Panwar grabbed a total of 17,811 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Narayan Singh Rana got 16,196 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Manmohan Singh Mall (MANNU BHAI) bagged 12,193 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 36.4%, 33.1% and 25.0% respectively.

In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahaveer Singh defeated Indian National Congress's Manmohan Singh by 1,148 votes.
