Bharatiya Janata Party's Suresh Rathor got a total of 29,513 votes, while Indian National Congress's S.P.Singh Engineer secured 24,725 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Mulki Raj grabbed the third spot with 19,483 votes. The top three parties got 34.2%, 28.7% and 22.6% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Chander Shakhar outperformed Bahujan Samaj Party's Madan Lal by 558 votes.
