Uttarakhand Election: Karnprayag Assembly Constituency 2022
Karnprayag is the assembly constituency which comes under the Chamoli district. It is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 for Karnprayag was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
Karnprayag assembly constituency had 95,505 electors in 2017, out of which 48,956 were male voters and 46,549 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.8% votes.
In the 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election, there were 9 candidates in the fray from Karnprayag constituency. Karnprayag was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Surendra Singh Negi won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Dr. Ansuya Parsad Maikhuri by a margin of 7,549 votes.
The top two candidates split 90.9% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Surendra Singh Negi got a total of 28,159 votes, while Indian National Congress's Dr. Ansuya Parsad Maikhuri secured 20,610 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation)'s candidate Indresh Maikhuri secured 1,331 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 52.5%, 38.4% and 2.5% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Ansuya Prasad Maikhuri defeated independent candidate Surendra Singh Negi by 227 votes.
