Lohaghat comes under the Champawat district and it is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Lohaghat voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

Independent candidate Jyoti Prakash Tamta secured 710 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 47.9%, 47.6% and 1.3% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Sri Puran Singh defeated Indian National Congress's Sri Mahendra SinghMahra by 11,535 votes.
