Pithoragarh is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Pithoragarh district. People of Pithoragarh voted for Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Pithoragarh assembly seat had 1,06,275 registered voters. Of the, 53,725 were male and 52,550 were female voters. 1.0% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In 2017, 10 candidates were contesting for Pithoragarh assembly constituency seat. Pithoragarh was one of 57 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Prakash Pant winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Mayukh Mahar by a margin of just 2,684 votes.
The top two candidates split 96.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Prakash Pant got a total of 32,941 votes, while Indian National Congress's Mayukh Mahar secured 30,257 votes. Independent candidate Lalit Mohan Bhatt secured 613 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.2%, 46.1% and 0.9% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Mayukh Singh beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Prakash Pant by 13,197 votes.
