Purola is one of the 70 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Uttarkashi district. Uttarakhand Assembly Election 2022 for Purola was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Purola assembly seat had 67,374 registered voters. Of the, 35,006 were male and 32,368 were female voters. 1.1% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Purola constituency had 4 candidates for assembly seat contention. Purola was one of 11 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a close contest with Indian National Congress's Rajkumar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Malchand by a margin of just 1,013 votes.
The top three candidates split 98.6% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Rajkumar secured a total of 17,798 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Malchand got 16,785 votes. Independent candidate Durgeshwar Lal bagged 13,508 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 36.5%, 34.4% and 27.7% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Malchand outperformed independent candidate Rajkumar by 3,832 votes.
