Raipur comes under the Bankura district and it is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Raipur voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on March 27 and the results will be declared on May 2.
In West Bengal Assembly Election 2016, there were 2,04,350 registered voters for Raipur assembly seat, out of which 1,03,481 were male and 1,00,869 were female voters. 1.6% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election, there were 7 candidates in the fray from Raipur constituency. Raipur was one of 211 seats won by the Communist Party Of India (Marxist). All India Trinamool Congress's Birendra Nath Tudu won the election upstaging Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Dilip Kumar Hansda by a margin of 26,722 votes.
The top two candidates split 87.9% of votes between them. All India Trinamool Congress's Birendra Nath Tudu got a total of 89,841 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Dilip Kumar Hansda secured 63,119 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Shudhanshu Hansda secured 14,332 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 51.6%, 36.3% and 8.2% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Upen Kisku outperformed All India Trinamool Congress's Pramila Murmu by 182 votes.
