All India Trinamool Congress's Akhil Giri got a total of 1,07,081 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Tapas Sinha secured 78,828 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Tapan Kar secured 12,186 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 53.4%, 39.3% and 6.1% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Akhil Giri defeated Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Swadesh Ranjan Nayak by 16,559 votes.
