The election for Rudrapur seat was comfortably won by Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajkumar Thukral defeating Indian National Congress's Tilak Raj Behar by a huge margin of 24,771 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.1% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajkumar Thukral got a total of 68,754 votes, while Indian National Congress's Tilak Raj Behar secured 43,983 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Jaswant Singh secured 1,471 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 59.2%, 37.9% and 1.3% respectively.
In Uttarakhand Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Raj Kumar Thukral beat Indian National Congress's Tilak Raj Behar by 3,954 votes.
