‘Didn’t expect to be noticed’
Says Minissha Lamba who made her Cannes debut this year, to play Arshad Warsi’s lover in Zilla Ghaziabad.Updated: Jul 02, 2011 14:48 IST
Actor Minnisha Lamba’s adventurous return from Cannes, via the green channel, may have ended her dream trip on a nasty note. But she’s looking at things positively. Just the fact that she walked the red carpet with artistes from around the world made it all worth it.
“Life has a way of balancing itself out. I had a fantastic experience and then I came back to a reality check,” she says, matter-of-factly. “I got an invite to attend the opening night and who would say no to something like that?”
Apparently, the international media failed to notice many Bollywood actors at the French Riviera. Was that awkward for her? “No. Why would anyone expect to be recognised?” she reasons. “Because the chances are that they won’t be. And why should they be noticed? Some international actors could walk the street of India, and no one will recognise them.”
Though she did meet a lot of actors and technicians from international film industries and attended the premiere of Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris, Minissha did not come back with any announcements. “You can meet everyone and they will be nice to you, but that
doesn’t mean they’ll cast you in their film,” she says.
For now, she’s waiting for the first shooting schedule of her newly signed project Zilla Ghaziabad to begin within the next 10 days. The actor will be playing Arshad Warsi’s love interest in the small-town thriller. “It’s a political drama along the lines of Rajneeti,” says Minissha, who essays the part of a village girl.
Apart from that, Minissha will also be seen in Shirish Kunder’s Joker with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. She also stars in another Sagar Ballary’s film called Hum Tum Aur Shabana, after her June release Bheja Fry 2.
