HT Most Stylish awards: Of Bollywood’s best blacks, blues, bandhgalas and more
The who’s who of Mumbai dazzled at Hindustan Times Most Stylish Awards on Friday evening, with their panache, chic outfits, and, of course, their style.Updated: Mar 25, 2017 14:53 IST
They came, they saw, and they posed very stylishly. While there was no dearth of eye candy at the sixth edition of the Hindustan Times Most Stylish Awards, held at the Taj Land’s End hotel in Bandra (W), it was amazing how different each star looked. From Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s traditional sherwani to Deepika Padukone’s cold-shoulder pantsuit, you could see nearly all Bollywood had to offer when it came to looking absolutely killer.
Take Ajay Devgn and wife Kajol for instance: The two looked fit for a second wedding, with Ajay killing it in a black bandhgala suit and Kajol simply flooring everyone with her glittery dress.
It initially looked like the men would set the tone of the night, with blacks, blues and bandhgalas dominating the red carpet. But the ladies soon stole the show, with their multitude of colourful and trendy outfits. Recent fashion trends could also be sampled on the red carpet – right from classic looks and statement neckpieces to over-the-top modern outfits.
Inside the ballroom, Kailash Kher set the tone of the show with a captivating performance of some excellent tunes, including Teri deewani, Tauba tauba and Saiyaan. Host Maniesh Paul – himself the recipient of the Most Stylish TV Host award – kept the audience quaking with laughter, while co-host Mandira Bedi reined him in, although she couldn’t quite keep from smiling along.
Maniesh’s continuous stream of jokes, puns and banter, however, made the hours pass by as he chattered with Parineeti Chopra (recipient of the Most Stylish Youth Icon (Female) award), pulled Alia Bhatt’s (she won the Most Stylish Trendsetter and Most Stylish Actor – Jury’s Choice awards) leg, and joked about Karan Johar’s (winner of the Most Stylish Writer award) glittery outfit.

One of the memorable moments of the evening was Amitabh Bachchan’s humble acceptance speech when he was named the Most Stylish Star of the Millennium. He first asked the respectful, standing crowd to sit down and then said, “I am honoured to be in the company of such incredible talent in the younger generation.”

The show was taken to a different level by the evergreen couple, Neetu and Rishi Kapoor, who won the Most Stylish Timeless Couple Award. In his acceptance speech, Rishi recalled the shoot for the couple’s hit song Humne tumko dekha from Khel Khel Mein (1975). “It was as if the song was a reflection of the relationship I had with her at the time. It was fun,” he said, as Neetu stood next to him, looking radiant in an off-white crystal-studded kurta pajama, with a bright green dupatta and jewelry.
Among the notable moments of the evening were Ayushmann Khurrana’s spectacular performance, Ajay Devgn’s acceptance speech when he was named the Most Stylish Superstar, and Asha Parekh’s (recipient of the Most Stylish Lifetime Style Icon award) entrance at the red carpet – the veteran actor showed the women how to be stylish, with a simple an embroidered pink sari paired with a statement neckpiece.
